"Mut zur Luecke!" were the parting words of my bubbly german teacher four semesters ago. Simply put, it means to have the courage to cross the gap. In context, she was telling me not to give up and that i must go for the exam even though i know nothing. In her words, it was the courage to go to exams knowing that you do not know enough. Germans are wayyyy coool if you ask me. hahaha... so four semesters later and one level up in german class, this motto's still stuck with me. >.<
today i chanced upon a similar english saying
"Have the courage to be ignorant of a great number of things, in order to avoid the calamity of being ignorant of everything." -
Sydney Smithnot exactly the same. but you get the idea.
