old sacramento.
take away the cars, throw in some sand, add a few big ass cactus, dress yourself up in leather vests and boots, arm up with the old fashioned guns and you get a scene right out of some old cowboy movie. they even have horse carriages i tell ya!

lotsa museums in this place besides the shophouses, bars and restaurants. railroad museums and such but most were not opened cos it was a weekday late afternoon when we got there. always had an obsession with trains. so old fashioned yet so grand. peaceful journey (at least it seems so, but definitely more than that boeing i was on) although the parting tonnes more heartbreaking. mom stands by the side of the train looking into the frosted glass at her daughter who holds back her tears not wanting the person she's dearest to worry more than she already must be. the train engine is started, the black fumes roar and the wheels trot by gradually reducing people into figures in the distance, faces into a blur, waves into nothingness. she's been sent away into the remote farmlands from the danger in the city as war looms. then she begins her adventures!!! Hey look! no parents!!! HAHAhaa... well what i'm trying to say is, there's always this flavor to it and i dont know how to describe.
oh let me side track a bit. i got to tell you all about the boeing i was on. was held up at narita cos of some 'trouble with the engines' as the captain put across to us. already it wasnt a good feeling cos the seats were really uncomfortable, no thanks i had this big BIG guy beside me who ate into MY space i had to resort to sticking my legs in the aisle... then when we finally took off, i was glad and almost contented until food came and the whole plane started to shake, so badly, my apple juice was spilt everywhere, the air hostesses actually SCRAMBLED to push their carts in place and them to secure and place to sit down. And all the time i regretted even Thinking about how fun the slides into the water at an emergency escape will be. Sheeesh. so who ever told me that this airline i was on is good, think again....

well anyway, back to my sacramento story... moved away from old sac to the city area itself. decided to park at the shopping mall and take a walk down around the city centre, and as we explored the place saw this piece of junk parked by the roadside. very very interesting piece of junk which illustrates the freedom of expression here in the land of the free. this guilty looking guy in a car behind us just paused and waited while we hovered around the car, snapping away, paparazzi style. and finally when we were done, wound down the car window and asked sheepishly "hey, your car??" i spose either he aint too proud to be driving a same brand same model same color car, or he couldnt bear looking at something so similar yet so vastly different. think spotting an elephant wearing a similar dress at a party....
Something i just learned not too long ago: Sacramento is capital of California and that explains all the big companies and offices and government boards. After a fairly long walk we finally arrived at.......

........California State Capitol..............
museums of old Governor's rooms and such, solemn senate place. but we were more interested in ambushing the current Governor aka the Terminator aka Arnie Szngr, hasta la vista baby..... was snooping around, and actually gained access into out of bound places and REAL offices with dont-mess-with-me current senate members in them! well, friday late afternoon, everyone's more interested in an earlier weekend rather than two snooping strangers so naturally we took advantage!

looks really nice and grand in the building. very open spaces, great looking carpets and the hand rails had the californian bear carvings (very many of them!!!) on them.

look! we found him! finally, located not at the top most level somewhere secret, but at the bottom most, boring, not so grand looking office level.

pushed at the door and it opened! terminator's office! caught a glimsp of this huge towering man in a double breasted suit but freaked out before i could even look him up in the face. bummer. i was so close to call it mission accomplished. dang.
so we went goofing around instead.....

so all in all, the walk down old town sac was very much fun and definitely one of my memory lanes to be =)
