the worst thing that can happen is to have busy sardine-packed schedules leading up to pure slackness by the snap of your fingers. day three in the land of the free and a total bum. simply divine? sure... but there's always buts...

4th World Choir Games in Xiamen, China
This was one heck of an experience. China never fails to amaze me with the things they do lol.. For the record anyway, if you havent know by now, it's two Gold diplomas and two Silvers. Satisfactory, nonetheless a tad disappointing. We did our best, any other stuff is secondary, so good job peeps! love ya all! =)

I must say we are a lucky lucky bunch of peeps... barely pulled through the preliminaries with our morning screechy sops voices competing at 9am in the morning, and then later on in the afternoon scraping through probably our worst song of our entire repertoire... two competitions in day a drains the crap outta every nook and crevice of yours. seriously. what's so amazing when you compete in the contemporary category in the games is that you actually MEET the composers of your pieces, and they WALK, TALK!!! totally. one pointer on positioning from him and it's almost magical how we suddenly sound like something instantly. we have our lucky stars to thank!! yet another incident: scheduled for another morning competition, but thank our fairy godfathers we got it changed to the afternoon a day before. The most amazing performance i ever had on stage. The feeling was indescribable, but so moving you feel energy and also the tears welling up on stage already while singing. Naturally they just fell like stormy downpour after that....

talking about storms and downpours... we were in the way of an impending typhoon and i was actually secretly hoping it'd come so i could see cows fly in the air and then take pics, wave to the farmers who are holding on to the cows. my apologies, that was a very singaporean moment there, excuse me. mmm but bummer, typhoon went to taiwan instead, and it was a day stuck in the hotel with nothing to do and not a drop of rain.

i miss everyone already. miss waking up to a human alarm that pillow fights (almost...) and grabs ankles, waking up at 4am to dress and warm up, thick scary eye shadows and dolly cheeks, sneaking naps inbetween practices, intensive practices in badly lighted still-got-to-pay-for-it room, late night gatherings/chill/necklace making/name-calling/laugh till you drop sessions, heck i even miss the yucky ever-so-the-same breakfast and grand hall food, stinky hao xiang lai and people complaining about it!

one thing i'll never miss thoe, peeing kids EVERYWHERE. i mean everywhere. was at this shopping centre, family of three, mon, dad, son, coming down the escalator and barely three steps away from the landing, son says he has a high tide and mom bends over and lifted his pants so he could do his deed right there and then. you see a puddle and you step on it, you're screwed. it's a puddle, but it's not rain, cos do you even see rain falling?? hell no.... yet another incident, was queuing behind middle age chinese lady who suddenly went " Kkkggggrrrrrr......... Pui!" right in front of my face. disgusted and helpless, i turned away only to see yet another peeing kid. IN the supermarket. and cept us the gang of blue, no one even battled an eyelid. ah well... the country who's said to next rule the world. i'm feeling the jitters....

xiamen was really an experience. one i'd remember for a long long time and counting for sure. =)

Roseville, California.
that's where i'm at now. two hours drive away from frisco and 45 mins away from sac. i'm very much alive, thoe battling this insistent irritating throat and stuck in the nose phlegm. weather's great generally, just gets a little wacky here and there and i'd be roasting like a pig in the house... havent done anything much, just bummin' around and getting used to the place, watching alot of tv sleeping alot. hoping i dont get too bored too sooon.... everything's good!!! late now, gotta hit the sack. updates another time!!

drop a note peeps, leave a comment or two!
that'd be great boredom-distractors for me! =)

till then, tschuss!
